Resolution Recap......

So.....it's been over a month since we've all made those New Year's resolutions. We were curious, how is everybody doing? We just checked our personal lists today, and so far we're on track. One of our biggest resolutions was to be in better shape than we were the year before. Some of the things we've been doing to accomplish this are:

  • Cooking more meals at home/eating out less
  • Drinking less alcohol
  • Stumbles wants to run a marathon (Mcdeez not so much)
  • Make every workout count (don't half ass any workouts)
  • Changing up workout routines to avoid plateaus
What were some of your health related resolutions? What are your steps to achieving them? If you have any tips for us, let us know. We're always looking for ideas! Here's an example of cooking from home, we made sushi!!

Quote for the weekend........

Best Part of Waking Up....

It's been another busy week with lots of late nights and early mornings.  We'll be posting a recap of the Superbowl Party shortly, which might we add, was a total success!

Speaking of early morning, let's talk about one of our favorite things.........COFFEE!!!!   Today was one of those days when you literary have to roll yourself out of bed.  As I was deliriously getting ready for work, I smelled the most amazing aroma.... COFFEE!  That means that McDeez is making it in the kitchen, and soon I will snap out of my autopilot and start waking up finally.

This has become a routine; a cup of coffee in the morning before work.  It's like a trusty friend you can rely on to help you get through the day :)   You can pretty much call us addicts!  Every once in a while I drink it before a long run to give me a little extra energy, and McDeez drinks it before a workout every day.

There are many studies that show that drinking black coffee before exercise can help boost performance and help with endurance.  This got me to thinking, since it works for McDeez, maybe it's time that I add it to my daily pre-workout routine.  I'll keep you guys posted on how it works out for me.

How many of you guys drink coffee before exercising?

Cheers!

Inspiration for the week.........

Slam dancing and grooving...........

Had a busy week, therefore the lack of posts.....sorry. We were actually dancing our glutes off!! Let us tell you, dancing is a great cardio workout and burns A LOT of calories! We went to two completely different types of concerts this week.

The first concert was a lifetime dream of Mcdeez. NOFX!! A punk band that has been playing as long as Mcdeez has been alive. Lets just say, there's a lot of moving going on in a mosh pit. And you have no choice but to join, if you want to watch the band from the front row.........which we did :) The end result was feeling like you got spit out of a sweaty drying machine.

The second concert was a friend of ours who plays in a local band called The Good Hurt. This was a  much more low key type of a show and much easier to dance to.........which we did, again :) This time we watched the whole show from the front row without getting kicked or losing a shoe, which we forgot to mention about the NOFX show. Here is some proof

All in all it was an exciting week. We promise not to go this long without posting again. We're still finalizing our Superbowl party menu, and based on the number of comments from the previous post, its just going to be the two of us. So make sure to comment! Thanks for following.

P.s. The video on top is our buddies The Good Hurt, enjoy!!

Are you ready for some football........

In the spirit of football Sunday, we decided to host a Superbowl gathering. This will not be a typical Superbowl party, it will be a "somewhat" health themed party (but nobody knows this yet, so lets keep it a secret). Here's what we are thinking:

  • BYOM (Bring your own meat), we'll provide the grill.
  • Nachos with lean ground turkey, low sodium black beans, low fat cheddar, guacamole, and a dollop of Greek yogurt (instead of sour cream).
  • Cut up veggies with a light spinach artichoke dip (nobody will be able to tell the difference).
  • Whole grain crackers with low sodium salami and cheese.
  • Grilled chicken skewers with veggies
  • Homemade trail mix
  • Pretzel thins with homemade chipotle hummus
  • Baked spicy chicken wings
  • Sweet potato fries
  • Fudgy chocolate brownie
  • Almond butter chocolate chip cookies
So from this list we would like some feedback. What sounds best to you? Or, do you have any ideas you would add to the list. If you want an invite you better comment ;) Lastly, who is your pick to take the Lombardi trophy this year?
